Sindh Senior Minister for Information and Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon has said Sindh is becoming a gateway for economic development and investment due to effective policies, development projects and investor-friendly initiatives of the Sindh government.
In a statement issued to the media on Monday, the ongoing and proposed mega projects in the province would lay a strong foundation for modern infrastructure and result in the beginning of a new era of employment, industry, trade and public facilities.
He said that with the continuous efforts of the Sindh government, the province was rapidly moving towards becoming a modern, prosperous and important investment centre. Memon said the confidence of domestic and foreign investors had been restored due to transparent governance, modern policies, one-window facility and provision of a conducive environment for investors.
He said the Sindh government was taking practical steps to strengthen the province’s economy, increase exports and promote industrial activities. Mega projects like the S-III sewerage project, Dhabeji Special Economic Zone, S-BOSS and modern smart surveillance system would create a new history of Sindh’s development and promote investment, he added.
The information minister said the Sindh government was also working on a comprehensive development package of more than Rs100 billion for Karachi, under which roads, bridges, water supply, sewage, rainwater drainage and other urban infrastructure would be developed on modern lines.
He said these projects would equip Karachi and other major cities of Sindh with modern urban facilities and bring significant improvement in the quality of urban life. Memon said the proposed Medical City project would prove to be a major breakthrough towards making Sindh a modern hub in the health sector. He added that the project would create world-class medical facilities, modern medical research and new investment opportunities.
The establishment of new industrial zones and investment clusters would expand the local industry, bring new investments and significantly increase economic activities, he remarked. He said the Sindh government was working on development projects worth more than Rs109 billion under public-private partnership, which would play an important role in the development of the province, employment opportunities, investment and public welfare.
Memon said the Pakistan Peoples Party government believed in practical performance rather than promises, and that was why Sindh was on a journey of development, investment and prosperity.
