LAHORE:Under the chairmanship of Principal of Amiruddin Medical College Prof Dr Farooq Afzal, a comprehensive performance review meeting of Lahore General Hospital (LGH) was held. LGH MS Prof Dr Faryad Hussain gave a detailed briefing to the Principal on all departments and medical facilities, highlighting services being provided to patients under government policy. Important decisions were taken to improve quality of care, with immediate implementation to be ensured. Administrative doctors and Deputy Chief Nursing Superintendent (DCNS) also attended the meeting.
Prof Dr Farooq Afzal said that the works department & sanitation staff must remain on high alert during the monsoon season. He made it clear that there is no room for negligence in the healthcare system and directed that the hospital environment must be made pleasant without any delay. The Principal instructed that adequate stock of rare blood groups must be maintained in the Blood Bank for emergency situations. He instructed a focal person / administrative doctors to conduct daily rounds of their respective departments and submit reports to MS on a regular basis. He warned that any negligence in this regard will not be tolerated.
He stressed zero tolerance on security and sanitation matters. Sanitary Inspectors were directed to actively monitor departments. He ordered that police verification of all employees of private security and cleaning contractors must be carried out on a priority basis. The Principal also directed strict action against begging and illegal vending on the hospital premises. He also directed the DCNS to ensure proper patient care, ward management, record maintenance and strict implementation of Health Care Commission SOPs.
