LAHORE : Wasa agencies, on the directions of CM Punjab, have established special heatwave relief camps across Punjab to provide immediate relief to citizens during the ongoing severe heatwave.

Citizens in various districts of South Punjab, including Rajanpur, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahimyar Khan, and other heat-affected areas, are being provided with safe, disinfected, and chilled drinking water.

According to the Housing Department spokesperson, Secretary Housing Punjab Noor-ul-Amin Mengal has directed all Wasa agencies to ensure that the supply of safe drinking water remains uninterrupted during the extreme weather conditions and that every possible relief is provided to the public. He instructed officers to remain present in the field, regularly inspect the relief camps, and personally supervise all operational arrangements.

The secretary housing directed all Wasa agencies to maintain close coordination with relevant departments, expand the outreach of drinking water supply services, and ensure the delivery of safe drinking water to remote areas through water bowsers and tankers so that no community is deprived of this essential service.

Mengal emphasised that there will be no compromise on water quality and directed that only safe, hygienic, and disinfected drinking water be supplied to citizens. He also urged the public to adopt heatwave safety precautions, avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight, and strictly follow the prescribed safety advisories to protect themselves from extreme heat.

According to the Housing Department spokesperson, the timely provision of essential civic services remains the Government of Punjab’s top priority. All concerned agencies are fully mobilised to safeguard public health and ensure maximum relief for citizens during the ongoing heatwave.
