ISLAMABAD: In a major move to tackle the skyrocketing number of digital offenses, the federal government has decided to create 838 new positions within the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) to significantly boost its efficiency and operational capacity.
According to official sources, the Director General of NCCIA initiated the request through the Ministry of Interior. The Establishment Division has already given its concurrence to the proposal, and the case has now been forwarded to the Finance Division, where it is currently under active review by the Expenditure Wing.
Insiders reveal that the expansion comes in response to an overwhelming surge in cybercrime complaints across the country, which has left the agency’s current workforce heavily overburdened and understaffed.
The proposed hiring span covers highly technical, legal and field administrative roles across multiple management tiers. For BS-18, the agency plans to induct 32 officers, including 14 deputy directors of investigation, seven deputy directors of accounts, four deputy directors of software, four deputy directors of network security and three deputy directors of legal.
Furthermore, 50 BS-17 positions will be created, comprising 31 assistant directors of investigation, nine assistant directors of stress counseling, seven assistant directors of legal, and three assistant directors of Forensics.
To strengthen ground operations, the bulk of the recruitment will focus on field and investigation forces, adding 133 inspectors, 97 sub-inspectors, 123 head constables, and 174 constables to the ranks. Logistics and administrative support will also be reinforced with the recruitment of 64 constable drivers, along with essential personnel including superintendents, technical assistants, steno-typists, upper division clerks and lower division clerks.
