MIRPUR, AJK: Azad Jammu and Kashmir Inspector General of Police (IGP) Captain (Retd) Malik Liaquat Hussain visited Mirpur on Saturday.
He walked from Mian Muhammad Road to Chowk Shaheedan and interacted with people, traders and shopkeepers to listen to their concerns and suggestions.
A large number of people warmly welcomed him and shared their views regarding law and order, traffic management, security and other public issues.
Addressing the public, Captain Hussain assured them that the protection of life and property remains the foremost responsibility of the police department. He stated that all available resources are being utilised to ensure public safety and maintain peace across the region.
The IGP said that Azad Kashmir Police is working under a people-friendly policing policy and is committed to providing a secure and peaceful environment to the citizens.
He added that effective measures are being taken to eliminate crime and strengthen the rule of law, while special attention is also being given to the prompt resolution of public complaints.
The IGP visited Mirpur’s Sarafa Bazaar, where he reviewed security arrangements in detail. On the occasion, he directed concerned police officers to further strengthen security measures, enhance patrolling and ensure comprehensive protection of commercial centres.
Citizens and members of the business community appreciated the IGP’s public-friendly approach during the visit. Several traders described the direct engagement between police and the public as a positive initiative, saying it helps convey public concerns to authorities and strengthens trust between the police and the community.
Among those accompanying the IGP were Deputy Inspector General Kamran Ali, Senior Superintendent of Police Khurram Iqbal, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Umar Shehzad Jarral, Chaudhry Mahmood, and other officials.
