CHARSADDA: An eight-year-old boy was killed and his father seriously injured when alleged robbers opened fire on them in limits of the Mandani Police Station, police officials said on Friday.
The officials said that the incident occurred in the Behram Dheri area when two unidentified men riding a motorcycle signalled a man and son, who were also travelling on a motorcycle, to stop. When they failed to stop, the assailants allegedly opened fire.
The boy, identified as Arafat, died at the scene, while his father, Syed Bacha, sustained serious injuries. Both were shifted to the hospital, where the child was pronounced dead.Police officials said the attackers fled the scene after the shooting. A case has been registered against unidentified suspects on the complaint of the injured father, and an investigation is underway to trace and arrest those responsible.
Following the incident, the residents staged a protest, expressing concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the area.The shooting was stated to be the second fatal incident linked to suspected robbery in Charsadda in the past month. In an earlier case within the City Police station’s limits, a 16-year-old boy was shot dead during an alleged robbery attempt.
