ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Wednesday approved a Rs0.336 per unit fuel charges adjustment (FCA) for May 2026, allowing power distribution companies, including K-Electric, to recover the additional amount from consumers through July electricity bills.
The regulator approved the increase after a public hearing on the petition filed by the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA-G). The agency had sought a higher adjustment of Rs0.817 per unit, citing increased fuel costs. After reviewing the data, Nepra reduced the claim and allowed Rs0.336 per unit.
The adjustment will apply to consumers of all distribution companies, including K-Electric under the government’s uniform tariff policy. It will not apply to lifeline consumers, electric vehicle charging stations (EVCS) or prepaid consumers who have opted for prepaid tariffs. The adjustment will also apply to electricity consumed under the Incremental Consumption Package.
