ISLAMABAD: The US Mission in Pakistan on Wednesday announced the early resumption of regular consular operations at its consulate generals in Karachi and Lahore.
It, however, didn’t specify a timeline for the resumption. Operations were suspended in March following security concerns and violent anti-American protests that erupted across the country following the February US-Israeli strikes on Iran that killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. “Great news, Pakistan! The US consulates in Lahore and Karachi are reopening for regular consular services. Lahore for US Citizen Services and Karachi for US Citizen Services + non-immigrant visa processing,” the US Mission said in a message. It said those seeking a US visa or American citizen services should visit its official website. The embassy reminded applicants that no visa agent was required to obtain a visa appointment or complete a visa application, so no fees should be paid for such services.
