The Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) on Wednesday reported a record increase in revenue collection for the 2025-26 fiscal year, posting a 26.6 per cent rise over the previous year as reforms in billing, recoveries and financial management boosted income.
According to a KWSC spokesperson, the corporation collected more than Rs27.304 billion during the 2025-26 fiscal year, compared with Rs21.349 billion in 2024-25, marking the highest annual revenue collection in the institution’s history.
The spokesperson attributed the increase to improved financial planning, a modernised billing system, stronger recovery mechanisms and greater cooperation from consumers. Revenue collection recorded significant growth during July, August, September, October, December and June, reflecting the impact of the corporation’s ongoing reform programme.
The KWSC said its financial performance had strengthened under the leadership of Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Ali Siddiqui, with oversight from Chief Commercial Officer Haris Sarfaraz and the dedicated efforts of the Revenue Recovery Group (RRG).
Corporation officials said reforms were continuing to make revenue collection more efficient, accelerate action against defaulters and expand customer-focused services while increasing financial resources. They added that the digitalisation of billing and improvements in recovery operations have also contributed to the steady rise in revenue.
The water utility said its improved financial position would support investment in water supply and sewerage services, infrastructure rehabilitation, operational efficiency and the timely completion of ongoing development projects.
The KWSC thanked domestic, industrial and commercial consumers, as well as other stakeholders, for their cooperation and timely payment of bills, saying their support had helped the utility move towards greater financial stability. The corporation added that it would continue pursuing reforms aimed at improving transparency, accountability and public service delivery.
