LAHORE:The city remained under the grip of heat and humidity while scattered rain was recorded in different city areas on Wednesday evening.

During the day, the maximum temperature reached 34 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was 28 degrees Celsius while the humidity was 48 percent and winds blown at a speed of 9 kmph.

The average AQI was 121, which came in the category of unhealthy for sensitive groups while the PM2.5 concentration was 8.7 times the World Health Organisation annual PM2.5 guideline value. Met officials said moist currents from the Arabian Sea were penetrating the upper and central parts of the country.

Meanwhile, a trough of shallow westerly wave was also affecting western and upper parts of the country. They predicted that hot and humid weather was expected over most parts of the country. However, rain-windstorm/thundershower was expected at isolated places in Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, northeast Punjab, eastern Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan during evening/night.
