LAHORE:Provincial Minister for Health and Emergency Services Khawaja Salman Rafique said that providing timely, effective and safe rescue services to the citizens in any emergency situation is the top priority. Advance preparation, modern resources and trained personnel are the guarantee of effective flood rescue operations.
He said this during his visit to Rescue 1122 Headquarters on Wednesday where he took a detailed review of flood preparedness and rescue capacity. Khawaja Salman said that on the instructions of CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz, Rescue 1122 has been provided with the latest flood rescue resources to protect the lives and property of the citizens. Modern equipment and advance planning have significantly increased the flood response capacity of Rescue 1122. Modern jet skis, aluminum rescue boats, life jackets and modern communication equipment have been purchased to deal with possible flood situations.
Secretary Emergency Services Department Dr Rizwan Naseer gave a detailed briefing on flood preparedness and response plan. It was informed in the briefing that relevant equipment has been purchased for flood rescue operation. Khawaja Salman conducted a detailed inspection of the modern rescue equipment purchased for flood response.
Dr Rizwan said that Punjab Emergency Service has conducted more than 100 flood mock exercises across the province with the relevant institutions. Flood mock exercises have significantly improved coordination, response and operational capacity between the institutions.
