The dark web has created one of the most dangerous spaces for child abuse in modern times. Criminals use hidden networks to exploit children, trade abusive material and escape detection. Some people wrongly believe this problem only affects wealthy countries. That is false. Any country, including Pakistan, with growing internet access faces risk. Poverty, silence, weak digital awareness and poor law enforcement make children more vulnerable.
Prevention is a collective responsibility for governments, platforms, teachers and families. Open conversations about body safety, consent and reporting can reduce harm. Children must know that unsafe contact, threats or secret messages online should be reported instantly without fear or shame. Safety cannot be ignored. Strong laws, cyber policing, digital education and awareness are indispensable. Silence protects offenders. Awareness protects children.
