I wish to draw the attention of the concerned authorities to the poor quality of food being served in private student hostels in Rawalpindi. I moved to a hostel on Sixth Road to prepare for competitive examinations. The hostel advertised a proper meal plan, but the food was unhygienic and of poor quality. Hoping for better conditions, I shifted to another hostel, only to encounter the same problem. Despite repeated complaints, the management has shown little concern.
Students who dedicate themselves to preparing for the country’s future should not have to risk their health for a basic necessity like safe food. Poor nutrition affects not only physical wellbeing but also concentration and academic performance. I urge the food authorities to inspect student hostels regularly, enforce food safety standards and take strict action against those who fail to provide safe and hygienic meals.
