ISLAMABAD/GILGIT: Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday directed the newly formed PPP government in Gilgit-Baltistan to remain closely connected with the public, prepare a comprehensive 100-day development plan, and expedite key legislative and governance reforms, including implementation of land ownership laws and preparations for local government elections.
A meeting, chaired by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari at the Chief Minister House in Gilgit, was attended by Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Amjad Hussain Advocate and the region’s first Governor, Qamar Zaman Kaira. PPP office-bearers briefed Bilawal on the party’s performance in the recent elections and presented recommendations aimed at improving administrative affairs in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Addressing the participants, Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari instructed party leaders not to remain confined to offices but to lead the government by standing alongside the people. He directed the provincial government to prepare a 100-day development plan and submit a performance report upon its completion.
He also ordered the implementation of legislation on land ownership rights and instructed the government to table a resolution on the right to self-governance during the first session of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly. He further directed party leaders to immediately complete groundwork for holding local government elections across Gilgit-Baltistan.
Meanwhile, earlier, Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Amjad Hussain Advocate signed his first official order on the directive of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, approving the regularisation of 89 doctors serving in the region.
