PESHAWAR: The Directorate of Anti-Corruption Establishment, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has sought the complete recruitment record of three senior appointments at Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC), Peshawar, after initiating an inquiry into alleged irregularities in the recruitment process, according to official documents obtained by The News.
In a letter dated June 29, 2026, addressed to the Hospital Director of MTI-HMC, the directorate directed the hospital administration to furnish the entire recruitment record relating to the appointments of the chief internal auditor, director of finance and director of procurement & supply chain management under Rule 3(3) of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Anti-Corruption Rules, 1999.
According to the official communication, the directorate is examining allegations of corruption, irregularities in the recruitment process and misuse of official authority.To facilitate the inquiry, it has sought a comprehensive record of the recruitment exercise, including copies of the advertisements, screening lists, details of vacancies, applications received, lists of shortlisted and selected candidates, educational and professional credentials of the successful candidates, interview proceedings, merit lists, minutes of the departmental selection committee meetings, appointment orders, notifications, terms and conditions of appointment, and all other relevant documents.
The letter directed the hospital administration to provide the requisite record within three days to enable the Directorate to proceed with the inquiry.The appointments under review include three of the institution’s key administrative positions, which were approved by the current Board of Governors of MTI-HMC.
The development came amid growing scrutiny of the recruitment process at the tertiary care hospital.Separately, the Young Doctors Association has questioned the appointments, held a press conference and submitted documentary evidence to the Health Department, seeking an independent administrative examination of the recruitment process.
When contacted, the Senior Administrator of MTI-Hayatabad Medical Complex confirmed to The News that the Anti-Corruption Establishment’s communication had been received. He said the hospital had already submitted its reply along with the complete record sought by the Directorate.
Responding to the development, MTI-Hayatabad Medical Complex rejected allegations of irregularities in its recruitment process.In a statement, Communication Officer Waseem Khattak said all appointments were made on merit and in accordance with the MTI Act, applicable rules and approved policies. He said the hospital remained committed to merit, transparency and accountability. Officials of the Directorate of Anti-Corruption Establishment declined to comment on the ongoing proceedings. No findings have yet been announced, and the inquiry remains in progress.
