Directive to complete uplift schemes on time

LAHORE:Secretary Housing Punjab Noor-ul-Amin Mengal visited Lahore Railway Station and surrounding areas to review progress on development works under the Urban Regeneration Project.

Director General LDA Tahir Farooq briefed the secretary on the project’s progress, ongoing construction activities and implementation phases. He said work on a large parking facility near the railway station was progressing rapidly, while arrangements were being finalised for the installation of an automated parking system in front of the station. The secretary directed the authorities to ensure timely completion of all development schemes while maintaining quality standards. He also instructed Wasa officials to keep underground water storage tanks and drainage systems fully functional during the monsoon season to prevent urban flooding.

Mengal directed the authorities to complete and operationalise the automated parking system at the earliest to facilitate commuters and visitors with secure and modern parking facilities. He said improvement of Lahore’s urban landscape and development of modern infrastructure were among the Punjab government’s key priorities.

The secretary was informed that façade improvement of buildings along roads around the railway station had been completed, while beautification and renovation of the railway boundary wall were in the final stages. He said the project would provide modern urban facilities for passengers and citizens, improve the city’s outlook and enhance the overall travel experience.

According to the Housing Department spokesperson, development projects focusing on urban planning, beautification, traffic management and improved civic facilities were progressing across Lahore to provide citizens with safer and modern amenities.
