LAHORE: Preparations for the much-anticipated CM Punjab Champions Cricket League are gathering pace, with the Sports Board Punjab (SBP) accelerating arrangements for the mega cricket tournament.
Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi chaired a key meeting at the National Hockey Stadium to review progress. The meeting was attended, among others, by former Pakistan women’s captain Nida Dar, who has been tasked with overseeing arrangements for the women’s teams, alongside senior officials including Dr Sumaira Sattar (Director Sports Lahore College), Dr Ammara Rubab (Director Sports Kinnaird College), Shabbir Sarwar (Director Sports Punjab University), M. Aqeel Rana (Director Sports University of Lahore), and Deputy Director Zahoor Ahmed.
Speaking at the meeting, Tariq Qureshi confirmed that the women’s competition will feature four teams from across Punjab, with matches scheduled for the last week of July. He said that the tournament is being organised in collaboration with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and will include participation from both international and national cricketers, making it one of the province’s most high-profile cricketing events.
The CM Punjab Champion League will comprise 12 men’s teams and four women’s teams, providing a major platform for emerging and established cricketers to showcase their talent. Meanwhile Sports Board Punjab (SBP) has also intensified preparations for the upcoming CM Punjab Youth Games with DG Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi chairing a key meeting at the National Hockey Stadium to review arrangements and assess.
