WANA: Member Provincial Assembly Ajab Gul Wazir on Monday inaugurated the construction work on a 10-kilometre blacktop road linking Madijan and Tannai in Lower South Waziristan.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of the Highways Department, local elders, PTI office-bearers, party workers, and a large number of youth from the area.
Briefing participants on the project, the Highways Department’s SDO said the road would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs1.32 billion. He said the project would enhance the area’s transport network, ease travel hardships, and provide residents with safer and more reliable road infrastructure. He added that construction would be carried out in accordance with approved engineering standards and completed within the stipulated timeframe.
Speaking at the ceremony, MPA Ajab Gul Wazir described the Madijan-Tannai road as a long-awaited project for residents, saying its completion would not only improve mobility but also stimulate trade, economic activity, and the overall socio-economic development of the region. He said the provincial government was committed to strengthening infrastructure, expanding the road network, and implementing public welfare projects across South Waziristan to ensure that people in underdeveloped areas benefit from equal development opportunities.
“We will fulfill the commitments made with the public,” he said, adding that development initiatives in South Waziristan would be further expanded to bring modern infrastructure and essential civic facilities closer to the people.
