MIRPUR (AJK): The High Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) here on Friday has annulled a large number of appointments made in the AJK state health department, declaring them unlawful and directing the state Ehtesab Bureau (Accountability Bureau) to investigate the matter.

The ruling was issued in the case of the petitioner Dr Usama Zafar and others vs. Government of AJK and others, in which the petitioners had challenged the recruitment process for medical officers and other posts in the health department.

According to the detailed judgment released on July 3, 2026, single bench of the AJK HC comprising Justice Khalid Rashid Chaudhry held that the appointments had been made in violation of the law and merit-based recruitment procedures. The court ordered the cancellation of all such appointments and referred the matter to the Accountability Bureau.
