NOWSHERA: Rescue 1122 has completed emergency preparedness measures in Nowshera amid fears of flooding in the Kabul River following torrential rains in the upper parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The emergency service has established rescue camps at vulnerable locations along the river, deploying trained personnel, rescue equipment, and emergency response teams to deal with any flood-related incidents.
As part of its preparedness efforts, Rescue 1122 also conducted a mock flood rescue exercise and launched a public awareness campaign along the Kabul River to educate residents about flood safety and emergency response procedures.
Briefing journalists, District Emergency Officer Malik Ashfaq Khan said the situation was being closely monitored and all rescue teams had been placed on high alert. He added that the provincial government had provided additional rescue boats to strengthen the district’s emergency response capacity.
Meanwhile, the district administration has imposed Section 144, prohibiting unnecessary gatherings and bathing along the banks of the Kabul River to minimise the risk of accidents during the anticipated high water levels.
Authorities urged residents to avoid visiting rivers, streams, and other flood-prone areas and to immediately contact Rescue 1122 in the event of any emergency. They said precautionary measures and public cooperation would be crucial in preventing loss of life and property if water levels rise in the coming days.
