A case has been registered by the Anti-Corruption Establishment for financial irregularities in the Yellow Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.

Former project director Zameer Abbasi and Procurement Director Jhuman Das have been nominated in the case for financial mismanagement of billions of rupees. The case alleges financial irregularities in the construction of Jam Sadiq Bridge and two depot projects.

According to the case, payment of Rs8.5 billion was made to contractors without bank guarantee, giving unsecured financial facilities that caused a potential loss of Rs 1.25 billion to the national exchequer. After the inquiry committee confirmed mismanagement and financial irregularities, the case was registered under relevant sections of the Pakistan Penal Code and anti-corruption laws.
