PESHAWAR: Minister for Energy and Power Nazir Ahmad Abbasi on Sunday said that the government was taking steps to resolve issues of electricity consumers.
“We will make the federal departments providing services in the province subordinate to the people,” he said while presiding over an introductory review meeting on behalf of the Inspectorate of Electricity.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Energy and Power Nisar Ahmed, Additional Secretary Anwar Khan Sherani, Provincial Electric Inspector Ahsan Khattak and Senior Chief Planning Officer Zahir Shah.
The minister said that the Inspectorate of Electricity, a subsidiary of Energy and Power Department, KP, had established one-window complaint centres in five regional offices, including Peshawar, to resolve the issues of electricity consumers. “Consumers can visit these offices and register their complaints,” he said.
He added that the secretary Energy and Power was monitoring the complaint centres.The minister said that this would help resolve disputes related to electricity bills and power meters. “The public can contact the department for resolution of inquiries, issuance of electrical supervisor certificates and electrical contractor licenses and other issues,” he added.
Meanwhile, the minister was briefed on the affairs of the institution and the
facilities provided to the public. He was informed that special one-window complaint centres had been established in the Inspectorate of Electricity’s head office in Peshawar and regional offices in Bannu, Nowshera, Abbottabad and Swat, where electricity consumers can register their complaints in the offices or through the online website www.ioekp.gov.pk .
The minister instructed the officials to come up with a mechanism to facilitate direct communication, as this would be more convenient for the resolution of public complaints and to provide timely facilities to the public by organizing open courts through social media and expediting contacts with distribution companies for the resolution of online complaints.He stated that public service and immediate resolution of public problems are our real goals, and we will fulfill the public mandate and promises at all costs.
