LAHORE: On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order on Monday visited Faisalabad and held a meeting with the Divisional Peace Committee and Ulema to review arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram.
Provincial Minister and Chairman Cabinet Committee Khawaja Salman Rafique and Provincial Minister Bilal Yasin attended the meeting. Provincial Ministers Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharat and Bilal Akbar Khan were also present. Secretary Auqaf Dr Ehsan Bhatta, Additional IG CTD Waseem Sial, Additional IG Imran Arshad and Chief Coordinator PFTEC were present.
Commissioner Faisalabad Musarrat Jabeen and RPO Sohail Akhtar Sukhera briefed the meeting about security arrangements. Arrangements for all 4,402 Majalis and 1,528 processions have been completed in Faisalabad Division. District-wise orders for 166 Zakirins and speakers and 116 language-wise orders have been issued.
In Faisalabad, 328 people have been included in the Fourth Schedule. In Faisalabad, 10,707 mosques, 653 Imambargahs and 1,576 madrasas are being provided with security as per the plan. As many as 12 companies of the Army and 10 companies of Rangers will be deployed for security to help police.
Salman said that on the orders of the CM, they are reviewing arrangements throughout the province. Arrangements in Punjab are exemplary and the administration and forces are ready. Sohaib said the effective use of technology is indispensable to make Muharram-ul-Haram peaceful. Cyber patrol cells should be established in all districts on the model of the Home Department. Bilal said peace and order should be emphasized in Friday sermons, especially during Muharram. All schools of thought should encourage their followers to avoid unrest on social media.
Deputy commissioners, DPOs and representatives of relevant institutions from Faisalabad, Jhang, Chiniot and Toba Tek Singh were also present on the occasion. Ulema and Mashaikh of all schools of thought expressed satisfaction with arrangements for Muharram.
Meanwhile, Maryam Nawaz expressed appreciation over the successful security operations conducted in Mir Ali. She paid tribute to the security forces for eliminating 27 terrorists during the operations. The CM also expressed solidarity with patients suffering from brain tumours and prayed for their speedy recovery on the World Brain Tumour Day.
