HYDERABAD: The fourth Ghamnak Hussaini Literary Festival commenced in Hyderabad on Saturday to mark the fourth death anniversary of renowned poet Syed Ghulam Rasool Shah Ghamnak Hussaini.
The two-day event featured literary sessions, cultural activities, and discussions aimed at promoting Sufi thought, peace and religious tolerance. The festival was formally inaugurated by Sindh Minister for Culture and Tourism Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah. Hyderabad Commissioner Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi, Syed Imdad Ali Shah Bukhari, writers, intellectuals and literary figures also attended the opening ceremony.
The event began with a rendition of a Waee by great Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai performed by Bhit Shah shrine singer Syed Juman Shah. Addressing the gathering, the culture minister said literary festivals and cultural activities played a vital role in highlighting Sindh’s rich Sufi traditions and spreading the message of love, peace and religious harmony.
He said the family of Hussaini had successfully carried forward the poet’s literary legacy and introduced his message to new generations. The message of love, unity and brotherhood conveyed through Hussaini’s writings continued to inspire young people today, the minister remarked. He
added Sindh’s Sufi poets and saints had always promoted peace, coexistence and humanity, which were timeless values. Paying tribute to Shah Latif, the culture minister said the great Sufi poet’s teachings and poetry served as a practical example for society. He also described Hussaini’s poetry as a source of peace and spiritual comfort, reflecting the enduring values of Sindh’s Sufi heritage.
