LAHORE: The Lahore Race Club stages the 40th Day of its Winter Meeting on Sunday evening with a compact but competitive card of five Class VII races, all run without risks. Racegoers can expect close finishes and several intriguing matchups across 800–900m trips as connections look to end the meeting on a high note. The programme is stacked with lightly raced juveniles and improving handicappers, and trainers have assembled balanced fields that should produce lively, tactical contests under the evening lights.

The opener is a 900m maiden for Divisions VI & VII featuring a field of ten. Gondal’s Height heads the market as the favourite, with True My Love and Shera Choice also prominent in the placings lists and fluke. The race shapes as a test of early speed and gate positioning: Prince of Kashmir and Gondal’s Height carry the top weights and will be expected to press forward, while Hamdan Prince and Shera Choice offer potential late thrusts. Watch for race tempo — a steady early pace should favour the closers, whereas a hot dash from the front could see the top weighted pair hold on. The field also has Bilal Love (8-6), Hassan Star (7-13), Mumraiz The Great (7-12), 9 Abdullah Pasrur (7-8), and Flokey (7-8).

Race Two, another 900m for Divisions VI & VII, is a smaller field of seven plus a reserve. Wake Up is the favourite with Latin Storm and Self Belief noted for place and fluke prospects. The presence of Gallop In Glory as a dark horse flanker adds intrigue; connections have hinted at a forward ride. This contest will likely hinge on split second positioning through the bend and the ability to quicken in the final 200m — a race for jockeys to time their runs precisely. Remaining field has Bilal One (8-10), Sosig Go (8-8) and Pride of Chandrai (8-6).

The card moves to Division V & VI for Race Three (900m), where Lucky Macs is the market leader and Fayyum is expected to figure in the places. Fakhar e Sardar, carrying the top weight, is the fluke and the stable’s confidence suggests he will be prominent early. Lex Lugar and True Promise bring consistent form and could upset if they find clear running. This middle event should produce a tactical battle between pace and stamina, with finishing speed likely to decide the outcome. Others in the run are Sher Dil (8-4), Babbar Sher (8-4), and Power Up (8-0).

The Race Four — Class VII Div III & IV over 900m — presents a full field of ten and is one of the more open contests on the card. Construct Craft is the favourite, while Dawood Prince carries the outright top weight and is the pundit’s personal pick for a bold showing.
