Climate challenges: Effective policymaking, awareness stressed to cope with threats

CHITRAL: Speakers at a gathering on Friday stressed the need for effective policymaking, public awareness, and environmental education to address growing environmental challenges in the mountainous district.

The gathering was organised at Government Sentinel High School Chitral, under the auspices of the National Integrated Development Association (NIDA Pakistan) with financial support from Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund.

The speakers highlighted the causes of environmental pollution, its impact on human life, and the role individuals can play in protecting the environment. They also discussed the effects of climate change on Chitral and stressed the need for effective policymaking, public awareness, and environmental education to address growing environmental challenges.

District Education Officer Lower Chitral Shahid Hussain, Principal of the school, Abdul Bari, NIDA Pakistan Project Manager Anwar Baig, and other speakers urged educational institutions to promote environmental awareness among students and encourage eco-friendly practices.
