LAKKI MARWAT: Local elders have asked the higher authorities of the irrigation department to release water in the Marwat canal to reduce the woes of farmers and enable them to have sufficient water for irrigation purposes.

During a visit to the canal on Wednesday, Tehreek Haqooq-i-Lakki Marwat chairman Ihsanullah Khan, and other elders said that the availability of water in the Marwat canal was a matter of life and death for local farmers, as they were fully dependent on the canal to irrigate their lands.

“Breaches and leakages at various points have delayed the release of water in the canal,” said one of the elders while quoting irrigation officials. They asked the officials concerned to repair the breaches without any delay to restore the availability of water in the canal.
