LAHORE:Punjab Police has spent more than Rs970 million on the welfare of its personnel and their families during the current year as part of its ongoing employee support initiatives.
According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, over Rs301.7 million was disbursed as educational scholarships for the children of police employees, while more than Rs261.3 million was provided as marriage grants for their daughters.
The spokesperson said over Rs146.2 million was allocated for medical treatment of police personnel and their families, and more than Rs138.5 million was paid in retirement grants. In addition, over Rs88.9 million was released as maintenance allowance for employees’ families.Punjab Police also provided Rs26.5 million to families of personnel for funeral expenses, while more than Rs6.8 million was disbursed as immediate financial assistance.
Inspector General of Police (IGP), Punjab, Abdul Kareem said welfare efforts would continue through resources generated by the Police Welfare Fund and other welfare programmes. He said initiatives were being further strengthened to ensure maximum support for police personnel and their families.
