ISLAMABAD: A majority of Pakistanis are worried about the negative impact of US-Iran conflict on Pakistan’s economy and have expressed their concerns. This was revealed in a survey conducted by Ipsos Pakistan, in which more than 1,000 people participated.
When asked about the current state of national economy, the percentage of Pakistanis describing the economy as strong declined by 3 percentage points, with only 20 percent calling it strong.
The proportion of respondents who considered the economy weak increased by 5 percentage points to 65pc.
The survey also found a significant rise in dissatisfaction with the country’s direction. The percentage of dissatisfied respondents increased by 18 percentage points to 78pc, while zOptimism about future economic improvement also declined. In the previous survey, 31pc of respondents expected the economy to improve, whereas in the latest survey only 22pc expressed such optimism. At the same time, percentage of people predicting that economic conditions would remain weak rose by 14 percentage points to 48pc.
When asked about the country’s most important problems, 78 percent of Pakistanis identified inflation as a major issue, 59 percent cited unemployment and 34pc pointed to poverty.
Additionally, 26pc expressed concern over rising electricity tariffs and growing tax burden, calling on government to address these issues.
