Karachi is witnessing an alarming and uncontrolled increase in the population of stray dogs roaming freely in residential areas, markets, parks and even near schools, posing a serious threat to public safety. Hardly a day passes without reports of innocent citizens being bitten by these animals, exposing them to the deadly risk of rabies. While humane treatment of animals is important, the protection of citizens must remain the foremost priority of any responsible administration. The concerned authorities must immediately launch a comprehensive strategy comprising regular dog population control measures, vaccination campaigns and prompt removal of aggressive stray dogs from public areas before more lives are endangered by this growing menace.
