LAHORE : Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana on Friday directed the police officers to intensify intelligence-based operations around educational institutions and hostels to curb the supply of narcotics. He said that those involved in destroying the future of the younger generation are a social menace and would be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law.
The CCPO said a comprehensive strategy is being implemented to completely eliminate the sale, purchase and supply chain of narcotics.
He also stressed coordinated efforts with other relevant departments to dismantle supply chains. He further instructed to use modern technology to curb the delivery of narcotics through online platforms and courier services. The Lahore police have launched extensive operations against drug traffickers, arresting 2,476 suspects and registering 2,403 cases so far this year. The Lahore Police spokesperson said that drugs worth millions of rupees were recovered during the operations. The seized narcotics included 859kg of hashish, 216kg of ice and 79kg of heroin.
