PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) staged demonstrations in several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday, urging the release of party founder Imran Khan and access to improved medical care.
The protests were held under a province-wide call associated with Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Aayeen Pakistan, a constitutional advocacy platform aligned with PTI.
Demonstrations took place in Peshawar, Charsadda, Eidak, and North Waziristan, with party supporters, office-bearers, youth wings, and elected representatives participating.
In Peshawar, PTI workers gathered outside the Press Club under a joint arrangement of the district organisation and the party’s youth wing.
Speakers criticised the continued detention of Imran Khan, terming it inconsistent with democratic norms, and called for immediate access to medical facilities.
In Charsadda’s PK-64 constituency, provincial and local party representatives led a rally to the Press Club, where participants expressed solidarity with the party leadership and reiterated demands for judicial relief and the release of political detainees.
In Eidak, senior party figures and local legislators led a separate gathering attended by workers and residents.
Speakers expanded their demands to include medical care for Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, alongside calls for reduction in fuel prices, tax relief, and measures to address inflationary pressures.
In North Waziristan, protesters highlighted concerns over rising commodity prices, taxation policies, and what they described as politically motivated restrictions on opposition leadership. Similar resolutions were adopted across gatherings, calling for the release of political prisoners and restoration of what organisers described as a public mandate.
