HARIPUR: The Pakistan Engineers Forum (PEF), Hazara Region, has expressed serious concern over the shortage of engineers and the growing administrative and technical issues in Hazara Electric Supply Company (HAZECO), and has demanded immediate corrective measures to ensure efficient functioning and improved public service delivery.
In a statement, PEF Hazara Region president Muhammad Asad stated that a large number of engineering posts in HAZECO were lying vacant, badly affecting the operational efficiency, technical performance, maintenance system, and overall service quality of the company.
He demanded that all vacant posts of engineers must be filled on an urgent basis in order to strengthen the institution and provide better services to the consumers of Hazara Division. Similarly, he said, the required field technical staff should also be recruited to improve the service delivery for the general public.
He further emphasised that preference should be given to qualified local Engineers belonging to the Hazara Region, so that local talent may be utilised effectively and unemployment among Engineers of the region may be reduced.
Muhammad Asad also demanded that advance increments for higher qualifications, including MS, MPhil, and PhD, must be granted to all Engineers of every discipline working in HAZECO, in accordance with the professional service structure and existing policies. He stated that higher education and technical specialization should be encouraged and properly rewarded within public sector institutions.
