KARACHI: Local mobile phone manufacturing and assembly declined sharply in April 2026, with Pakistani companies producing 1.81 million units during the month, down 35 per cent from 2.79 million units in March, according to data released by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority.

Cumulative local output reached 9.17 million units in the first four months of 2026, said a research note by Topline Securities on Friday.

Local manufacturing met 83 per cent of Pakistan’s mobile phone demand in April, slipping from 89 per cent in March. For the four-month period, the local supply ratio stands at 85 per cent.

A year-on-year (YoY) comparison for April 2026 and the four-month period could not be made, as the PTA had published April and May 2025 figures on a cumulative basis.
