Fight against terrorism to continue for lasting peace: CDF

RAWALPINDI: Commending the operational preparedness and unwavering resolve of Pakistan Army and law-enforcement agencies (LEAs), Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir on Thursday lauded their sustained efforts against terrorists and reaffirmed that the fight against terrorism will continue with full national resolve until enduring peace and stability were achieved across the country.

He was addressing an investiture ceremony to confer military awards on officers and soldiers at the General Headquarters here.

The field marshal conferred awards on the families of martyrs, officers and soldiers in recognition of exceptional gallantry in operations and distinguished services rendered to the nation.

The decorations conferred included 50 Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) and 12 Tamgha-i-Basalat.

Medals awarded posthumously were received with honour by the families of martyrs.

Paying tribute to Shuhada and Ghazis, the field marshal said, “Shuhada and Ghazis remain the enduring pride of the nation”. He said the honour and sacrifice of Shuhada and Ghazis were a sacred trust for every Pakistani.

“Peace and security of our motherland are owed to their supreme sacrifices and unwavering devotion to duty,” he said. He also eulogised the resilience, dignity and steadfastness demonstrated by the families of Shuhada, acknowledging their unparalleled sacrifices and unwavering commitment to the homeland.
