Unchecked urbanisation is destroying the country’s environment while swallowing up agricultural land, depriving many farmers of their homes and livelihoods. The conversion of fertile land into housing societies has benefited a few while harming many.
While we definitely need affordable housing, it should not come at the cost of environmental disaster or the agricultural sector, which has historically been Pakistan’s largest employer.
