LAHORE : There is nothing greater in the history of nations than sovereignty and independence, said Punjab Assembly (PA) Speaker Malik Ahmed Khan while addressing a seminar on Youm-e-Takbeer organised by the General Cadre Doctors Association in collaboration with Allama Iqbal Medical College and Jinnah Hospital at the college auditorium here on Tuesday.
When it came to the survival of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif carried out nuclear explosions despite all the pressure and threats of economic sanctions and made Pakistan the world's first Islamic nuclear country, which made the country's defence invincible, Malik Ahmed said, adding, ‘Along with our armed forces, every individual of the nation is a soldier of Pakistan.’
Dr Saeed Elahi said that the dignified ceremony of Youm-e-Takbeer at Allama Iqbal Medical College made it clear to everyone that ‘our doctors stand shoulder to shoulder with their armed forces.
Dr Masood Sheikh said because of being a nuclear power, ‘our armed forces taught the enemy such a lesson in the four-day war of May last year that he cannot even think of attacking us again’.
Principal Allama Iqbal Medical College Prof DrTayyabaWaseem said that wars are fought not only by the armed forces but also by the people and the Pakistani nation has proven that every individual of it is a soldier of the country.
Senior analysts Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami and Hafeez Ullah Niazi said the nation will never
forget those who helped Pakistan become a nuclear power.
They added that thanks to nuclear capability, the people of Pakistan feel safe in their homes and sleep peacefully, otherwise the enemy would not be able to tolerate Pakistan on the face of the earth even for a moment.
Addressing the gathering, defence analysts Brig Ghazanfar Ali and Brig Nadir shed light on the role of the armed forces as well as the people regarding the uniform and the fight for justice.
They said that along with the Pakistani army, ‘our doctors are also making the country famous all over the world, which the entire nation is proud of.’
