ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry on Saturday met a delegation from Egypt’s Interior Ministry to discuss bilateral relations and security cooperation.

The delegation was led by Major General Magdy Helal. The two sides officially agreed to enhance institutional cooperation between their respective ministries. The Egyptian delegation, which also included Brigadier Essam Abu Al-Khair, Brigadier Engineer Mohamed Razi and Brigadier Dr Mohamed Mounir, engaged in comprehensive discussions aimed at expanding collaboration across several key areas. The talks primarily focused on counterterrorism, narcotics control, security, cybercrime and the implementation of Safe City projects. A major outcome of the meeting was an agreement to strengthen ties between the National Police Academy of Pakistan and Egypt’s police academy. This initiative will facilitate the joint training of law enforcement officers from both nations.

Speaking during the session, Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that the visit of Egyptian delegation would play a crucial role in identifying new avenues for bilateral cooperation. He said practical measures would be taken to solidify relations with Egypt and announced that a Pakistani delegation would soon visit Egypt to further explore mutually beneficial opportunities. Talal Chaudhry said significant potential exists for deep cooperation in internal security, anti-narcotics efforts and counterterrorism strategy. The delegation described their visits to Pakistani institutions, including Anti-Narcotics Force and National Police Academy, as highly productive. They noted that both countries stand to benefit immensely from exchanging expertise and sharing experiences across various operational sectors.
