PARACHINAR: The long-inactive Parachinar Airport in Kurram district has been reactivated and made operational through the joint efforts of the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) and the Pakistan Airports Authority.

Following the completion of upgradation work by FWO, the Pakistan Army Aviation carried out successful operational landing and take-off trials on April 26, 2026.

The airport, which had remained non-functional for a long period, has now entered the final stages of operational readiness after undergoing significant improvements. The rehabilitation of Parachinar Airport marks an important step toward restoring air connectivity in the region.

According to officials, Pakistan Army Aviation conducted a total of six successful landing and take-off trials to assess construction quality, runway functionality, and overall operational preparedness.

The trials confirmed that the runway meets professional standards and complies with high safety requirements. Various operational scenarios were tested during the process to evaluate the airport’s performance.

With the successful completion of these trials, the operational capability of Parachinar Airport is expected to strengthen, leading to improved regional connectivity, enhanced emergency response, and increased economic activity in the area.
