NOWSHERA: The Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Information, Ikhtiar Wali Khan, has criticized the performance of the Qazi Hussain Ahmad Medical Complex, the largest government hospital in Nowshera, describing it as a “slaughterhouse.”
Speaking to the media here, he said that despite billions of rupees being spent on the hospital, its system had not improved, calling it a clear example of failure by the provincial government. Ikhtiar Wali Khan, who belongs to Nowshera district, claimed that every local could testify that patients were not being provided even basic healthcare facilities at the hospital. He alleged that doctors were not properly fulfilling their duties, while contracts for laboratories and pharmacies had reportedly been awarded to “favoured individuals,” turning the institution into what he described as a profit-making setup instead of a healthcare facility.
He further alleged that large-scale corruption and nepotism were ongoing within the hospital administration, involving influential figures, while ordinary patients continue to suffer.He said that such mismanagement in an important sector like health was deeply concerning.
He demanded an immediate investigation into the alleged mismanagement and corruption at the medical complex and called for strict action against those responsible, in order to ensure better healthcare services for the public. He also accused the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of focusing on a political agenda instead of addressing public issues.
Ikhtiar Wali Khan claimed that government resources and energy were being spent on securing the release of the party’s founder from jail, while the public was deprived of basic facilities. He further alleged that funds under the Ramazan package meant for deserving individuals were distributed among party workers instead of reaching the intended beneficiaries, calling it an injustice to the public.
