SWABI: Citizens in Swabi district are facing difficulties in receiving financial assistance under the Ramazan Relief Package announced by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for deserving people.
A large number of people from different areas of the district have been visiting the Deputy Commissioner Office to know their status.However, due to long queues and a slow processing system, many applicants are forced to wait for hours.
According to affected citizens, several technical and administrative issues have emerged during the payment process. Many applicants have reported discrepancies between their CNIC numbers and the codes issued to them.
In addition, several individuals have been unable to complete the payment process because their fingerprints could not be verified.One of the affected individuals, Saeed Khan said he had received a code on his mobile phone, but the CNIC number mentioned alongside the code belonged to someone else, preventing him from receiving the payment.
He added that he had been waiting at the Deputy Commissioner Office for several hours for his turn, but due to limited staff and a slow process, citizens were facing serious difficulties.Another resident, Muhammad Tufail, said he visited a franchise in Swabi City to collect the Ramazan package, but the staff informed him that the payment would only be issued if he first obtained a SIM of their company.
An official at the Deputy Commissioner Office, told The News on condition of anonymity that a quota of 5,000 beneficiaries had been allocated for each Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) in the district.
However, he noted that the lists submitted by several MPAs contained far more than the allotted 5,000 names.According to him, accommodating individuals beyond the quota in the system has become a major challenge for the administration, resulting in several deserving individuals still waiting for assistance.
Meanwhile, Sohail Yousafzai, district president of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, said that the complete data of more than 40,000 deserving individuals in Swabi district had already been provided to the Deputy Commissioner Office for the Ramazan package.
He added that financial assistance had already been transferred to the majority of these beneficiaries, while the remaining cases were under processing and those people would receive the funds soon.
