BATKHELA: A local leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUIF) on Wednesday said that his party would present a charge sheet against both the federal and provincial governments during its upcoming public meeting in Mardan.
Addressing a press conference at the Malakand Press Club in Batkhela, JUIF provincial deputy general secretary Muhammad Rahim Haqqani said the central government had deviated from and disrespected the Constitution of Pakistan by passing controversial laws.
He alleged that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) during its 13-year rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, pushed the province into Rs800 billion debt while making elected representatives millionaires.
Haqqani said that the people’s primary concerns were law and order and relief from inflation, not the release of PTI founder Imran Khan.
He criticised the chief minister for participating in sit-ins in Punjab, Sindh, and Islamabad for the release of “Prisoner No. 804,” saying it was inappropriate to ignore public issues while blocking highways in the province and causing hardship to residents.
The JUIF leader said that law and order in the province had deteriorated as civilians, police and security personnel losing their lives on a daily basis, particularly in southern districts. He added that inflation was at its peak and that neither life nor property was secure in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.He maintained that despite ruling the province three times, the PTI had failed to initiate or complete any significant public welfare project.
About the financial irregularities amounting to Rs200 billion, he said the province had been burdened with Rs800 billion in debt. According to him, the financial status of elected members had increased by thousands of percent, making them millionaires and billionaires.
He alleged that the federal government had passed two constitutional amendments that contradicted the Constitution, and those who supported such amendments should face proceedings under Article 6.
The JUIF leader announced that preparations were underway for a massive rally at Mardan Stadium on April 12, where people from across the province would participate and break previous records of rallies and million marches.
He added that participants on the call of the party chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman could stage a sit-in for an indefinite period.JUIF district chief Subhan Ali, Lower Dir chief Sirajuddin, Thana Baizai chief Ghani Muhammad Khan and Maulana Muhammad Jabbar were also present at the press conference.
