A ‘Kashmir Conference’ held at the Jamaat-e-Islami headquarters Idara Noor-e-Haq in Karachi on Wednesday expressed complete support for the freedom struggle of the people of Kashmir against Indian occupation and severe state repression.

The conference presided over by JI Karachi emir Monem Zafar paid glowing tribute to the eternal sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs and made it clear that no compromise on the freedom of Kashmir would be accepted.

The conference stressed that instead of engaging in any form of bargaining or showing weakness, the government and the state must play their role in resolving the Kashmir issue in accordance with United Nations resolutions and in securing the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.

Speakers urged the government and the state to take the lead for Kashmir’s freedom, assuring that the entire nation would stand united, speaking with one voice and shoulder to shoulder. It was also demanded that the Government of Pakistan establish Kashmir desks in its embassies around the world.

Participants announced full support for the “Kashmir Solidarity Rally” to be held on February 5 from Jail Chowrangi to Mazar-e-Quaid under the banner of the Jamaat-e-Islami and appreciated the party’s continued struggle and efforts for the people of Kashmir.

Addressing the conference, Monem Zafar said Kashmir is the unfinished agenda of the partition of the subcontinent and over the past 45 years Pakistan has fought five wars over Kashmir. He emphasized that Kashmir is not merely a territorial issue but a matter concerning the lives of over 12.5 million people. The people of Kashmir have a religious and ideological bond with Pakistan.

He said Pakistan, as a state, did not play the role it should have played for the liberation of Kashmir, and today the need is greater than ever for the government and the state to act decisively to free the Kashmiri people from Indian occupation.

He added that India itself took the Kashmir issue to the United Nations, and the role of the UN is evident to all. He said that UN has failed to implement its own resolutions. Referring to the Pakistan-India war in May 2025, he said that the entire Pakistani nation stood behind the government and the armed forces, and similarly, if Pakistan plays its role on diplomatic and state fronts regarding Kashmir, the whole nation will stand with it.

He also condemned India’s revocation of articles 370 and 35A on August 5, 2019, which ended Kashmir’s special constitutional status and safeguards, and stressed that today Pakistan, as a state, along with its armed forces, must play its role in ending Indian oppression in Kashmir.

The conference was also addressed by Jamiat Ulema Islam-Sindh Deputy Ameer Qari Mohammad Usman; Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan’s Syed Aqeel Anjum Qadri; Shahri Rabta Council’s Nusrat Mirza; All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader Chaudhry Shaheen Iqbal; Palestine Foundation’s Dr. Saber Abu Maryam; Awami National Party’s Mohammad Younis Bonairi; Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam’s Hafiz Ahmed Ali; Jamaat-e-Islami Minority Wing President Younis Sohan Advocate; Functional Ulema-o-Mashaikh Sindh President Maulana Mohammad Amin Ansari; Pakistan Milli Muslim League’s Saqlain Ishaq; Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan’s Khalil Ahmed Noorani; Tahafuz Huqooq-e-Tajran’s Mubeen Ansari; Ittehad Hazara Tehreek’s Sardar Atiq-ur-Rehman; Islami Jamhoori Ittehad’s Allama Murtaza Khan Rehmani; Mohib Council’s Aslam Khan Farooqi; JUI Karachi Ameer Abdul Salam Shamzai; Markazi Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadith Chairman Political Affairs Abdul Wahab, and others.
