BARA: Local leaders of the Awami National Party (ANP) on Wednesday demanded a probe into the issues faced by people displaced from the Tirah Valley of the Khyber tribal district and sought compensation for the affected families.

Speaking at a press conference, ANP office-bearers, including Khyber chapter President Abdul Raziq Afridi, Bara President Abdul Wahid Afridi, Sadique Chiragh Afridi and others, said the problems being faced by internally displaced persons (IDPs) were serious and required urgent attention.

They emphasized that the party’s criticism was aimed at constructive reform and was being raised within parliamentary and ethical boundaries. “The party demands transparent registration, adequate compensation for the affected people, and an end to the alleged corruption by focal persons,” ANP Khyber President Abdur Raziq Afridi said.

He highlighted issues such as polio verification and the use of identity card code 17301, which he said was being used to deny aid to affected families. The ANP leader also questioned the construction of security checkpoints and roads in the Tirah Valley without providing compensation, as well as the lack of basic facilities for the displaced people. He demanded immediate attention to the issues, transparent investigations, and compensation for land losses along with financial assistance.
