LAHORE : Civil Lines Division police have arrested a two-member motorcycle thief gang during an operation against active criminal groups, recovering stolen vehicles, weapons and cash.

According to a police spokesperson, personnel from Karol Ghati police post traced and arrested the suspects near Sadiq Town while operating in the Karol jungle area. The suspects were allegedly involved in robbing passers-by at gunpoint while using forest routes to evade law enforcement. Police said two stolen motorcycles, two pistols with bullets, mobile phones and cash were recovered from the suspects’ possession. The arrested men were identified as Waqar and Zahid.

Superintendent of Police (SSP) Civil Lines said the suspects were wanted by police in multiple serious criminal cases. Separate cases have been registered against them and further investigation is under way.

Meanwhile, Bhatti Gate police arrested two suspected motorcycle thieves during a timely operation at a family park.

According to police, the arrests were made following a tip-off about the suspects’ presence in the area. Officers moved in swiftly and detained the two-member gang before they could carry out another theft. Police said the suspects were involved in stealing motorcycles from unsuspecting citizens at various locations across the city and fleeing with the vehicles.

The suspects allegedly resisted arrest, prompting police to take them into custody after a brief struggle. Two stolen motorcycles, Rs10,000 in cash and illegal weapons were recovered from their possession. The arrested men were identified as Shafiq and Nawaz. Cases have been registered against them and further investigations are under way to determine their involvement in other thefts.

Superintendent of Police (SSP) City Bilal Ahmed commended SHO Bhati Gate Zain Abbas and his team for the successful operation, reiterating that the police were tightening the noose around street criminals and would continue indiscriminate action against criminal elements.
