Islamabad: Amidst intense cold and dense fog, residents have urged education authorities to extend the winter vacation in schools as a precautionary measure to protect children’s health.
They noted that children were increasingly suffering from flu, colds, fever and other illnesses triggered by the harsh weather. Parents called on the Federal Directorate of Education, the public school regulatory body, to formally revise the winter holiday schedule to safeguard students’ well-being.
Muhammad Salim emphasised that most schools lack adequate arrangements to shield children from the cold and fog. Some parents encouraged schools to go for online classes to keep students safe. The doctors, too, have reported a rising number of cases of chest infections, flu, fever and even pneumonia among children.
