PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly session was adjourned on Monday for lack of quorum as the provincial ministers and both government and opposition members were absent.
Deputy Speaker Suriya Bibi had to postpone the session until Wednesday, citing the insufficient number of members present and the failure to meet quorum requirements.Earlier, the assembly met under the chairmanship of deputy speaker. Only 17 members from both the government and opposition were present in the House.
During the question-hour break, a member Iftikhar Jadoon expressed frustration over the ministers’ absence.The deputy speaker responded that the ministers could not attend the assembly session due to a cabinet meeting.
The member questioned why the assembly session was convened when a cabinet meeting was scheduled.He then pointed out the lack of quorum, and as the number of members remained insufficient, the deputy speaker adjourned the session until January 7.
