PARACHINAR: Kohat Division Commissioner Syed Motasim Billah Shah visited the tribal district of Kurram to review the law and order situation in the wake of the peace agreement, officials said.

The commissioner has been holding continuous consultations in Parachinar since Monday with Deputy Commissioner Kurram Ashfaq Khan, officials of law-enforcement agencies, members of the grand jirga and local elders regarding full implementation of the historic Kohat Peace Agreement aimed at ensuring lasting and sustainable peace in the district. Several important practical measures have been taken during these consultations, and it is expected that the ongoing dialogue will further strengthen the peace process in Kurram.

During his visit, the commissioner also conducted a detailed inspection of the settlement office in Parachinar, where he reviewed settlement and re-settlement matters. He stressed the need for accuracy of records, transparency and strict adherence to rules and regulations, and issued directives to modernise the system in line with contemporary requirements to safeguard public rights.

He expressed hope that the ongoing settlement process and the efforts of the Land Commission would soon lead to the permanent resolution of long-standing land disputes among various tribes in the district.

The commissioner also visited the government hospital in Sadda tehsil, where he expressed strong dissatisfaction over poor sanitation conditions and shortages of medicines. He directed the concerned authorities to ensure immediate improvements.Local residents appreciated the commissioner’s visit and welcomed the prompt actions taken to address public concerns.
