MINGORA: Zaibun Nisa Jillani, the granddaughter of the former Wali of Swat, on Tuesday accused Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Fazal Hakim of attempting to illegally take over the Wali’s private residence and alleged that she was being harassed through police officials and other government employees.
Speaking at a press conference at the Swat Press Club, Zaibun Nisa said she had lodged an FIR when attempts were allegedly made to occupy the historic residence. She stated that Fazal Hakim had initially assured her that he would accept the decision of the local jirga instead of pursuing litigation. However, she claimed that he was now backtracking from the jirga’s settlement, a move she termed “dangerous for the community’s social fabric” and damaging to the credibility of the traditional jirga system.
She levelled serious allegations against the SHO of Saidu Sharif Police Station and the Medical Superintendent of Saidu Hospital, claiming they were acting as “personal servants” of the MPA and were using police constables and Class-IV staff to continuously harass her and her team. She urged the chief minister, DIG Malakand and DPO Swat to take immediate action and remove both officials from their posts.
Jelani clarified that she had no objection to the land purchased by MPA Fazal Hakim from the share of the Wali’s widow, but asserted that the MPA was now interfering in the Wali’s personal house, which she and her family had rights over. She said that in accordance with the jirga’s decision, they had already submitted the full amount to the jirga, and it was now the jirga’s responsibility to ensure implementation of its ruling.
To a question, she said that the family has no objection to the land Fazal Hakim legally bought, but the issue arose when he allegedly tried to enter and interfere in the Wali’s private house.
Appealing for security, she asked the chief minister, DIG and DPO Swat to provide her protection, warning that if any harm was caused to her, her staff, or family, the responsibility would rest solely with MPA Fazal Hakim.
