Rains accompanied by strong winds hit Parachinar, its adjoining areas, and several villages of Kurram district early in the day, causing widespread destruction in. The severe weather led to flash floods that washed away roads, bridges, and damaged numerous homes.
According to the district administration, the continuous downpour resulted in flash flooding in seasonal streams, causing significant damage to infrastructure. Important roads, including the Bypass Road, Zeran Road, and routes near the Sports Complex, were severely affected. In addition, homes in the outskirts and rural areas were inundated, with many families reporting heavy property losses.
Assistant Commissioner Khalid Imran said that surveys were currently underway to assess the full extent of the damage, and that the administration is working swiftly to provide aid to the affected population.
In response to the crisis, Deputy Commissioner Ashfaq Ahmed convened an emergency meeting with relevant district officials to coordinate relief efforts. He directed all departments to expedite relief operations and ensure that all affected families receive necessary assistance. During his visit to the impacted areas, the DC also announced immediate relief packages for some of the victims. The administration has finalized the repair of key roads and routes in preparation for upcoming Muharram processions, ensuring that the events proceed smoothly despite the recent weather challenges.
